Thalorai is a vast, wind-swept land of rolling grasslands, wildflowers, and endless skies—an unbroken prairie that stretches farther than the eye can see. It is a realm without borders, cities, or stone fortresses. Instead, it is home to a proud and ancient people who live in harmony with the land, organized into independent nomadic clans who follow the rhythms of the seasons, the herds, and the stars.
The people of Thalorai, the Clannestry—are skilled riders, herders, and storytellers, there individual names gained from the varied steeds they ride, their lives deeply entwined with nature. Each clan travels with ornate yurts mounted on wheeled platforms, accompanied by flocks, horses, and massive shaggy beasts bred for endurance. Their culture treasures freedom, honor, and oral tradition. Art is worn, sung, or danced under the moonlight; history is carried in songs and told beside firelit gatherings.
While each clan is sovereign on its own migration route, the unity of Thalorai is preserved through the ancient rite of the Moonmeet, a grand annual gathering held at the sacred hill of Oroven’s Rise, where the clans set up their tents in a ring that stretches for miles. Here, under the open sky and watched by ancestral spirits, the Circle of Clans convenes—a council of chieftains, shamans, and elders who deliberate over disputes, share news, renew oaths, and decide the laws that will bind all Clannestry for the coming year.
No single ruler sits atop Thalorai. Instead, decisions are made by consensus and binding vote, often after impassioned debate and ritual storytelling. The voices of smaller clans are weighed with the same respect as those of the great lineages, and the balance of power shifts from year to year.
Though the Clannestry have no standing army, they are formidable warriors when united, known for their swift cavalry and uncanny knowledge of the land. They are not conquerors, but fierce defenders of their freedom. Friendly with most neighboring nations, they often trade rare herbs, beautifully crafted goods, and stories that travel faster than caravans.
To outsiders, Clannestry may seem untamed, but to the clans who ride beneath the open sky, it is a land of perfect order—an eternal dance between earth, wind, and freedom.
