The World
The only world that you have known from birth has been the valley. Many generations of your ancestors, have been born, lived their lives and died in the valley.
Life is generally peaceful and tranquil in the valley and has been that way for a long time. Occasionally, monsters from beyond the valley wander in, but the are dispatched quickly by the guards and hunters of the valley. It is therefore no wonder that you wished to join the ranks of the hunters.
The valley is a canyon that is 160 miles long and 2 miles deep at its lowest point. At its widest, the valley spans over 50 miles. The people of the valley really only have first hand knowledge of the Refuge. Any other information has been gained from trading with the Brun and Lupas.
The image to the right is a view of the valley look down the Winding River. Though most of the land in the Refuge has lush plant life, there are some areas where the ground is bare. Care must be taken to ensure that the land does not wash away in these areas.
Though the Refuge does not take up the whole valley, it is the largest parcel of land under the control of one species. It could be said that the Changelings 'own' more land, but their interest lies in protecting the valley as a whole, not controlling and cultivating land. The extent of the size of the Refuge can be seen in this map.
